You’re surrounded by confusing and conflicting messages around food. Is what you’re eating really supporting your health? What about that new diet you saw on the morning news? But then you have to worry about *insert whatever nutrient everyone is fixated on*.
At eatwellgeorgia, we work with people across a wide range of experiences, and what we know for certain is that how you feel about food is shaped by far more than what’s on your plate. Let’s find a way to a more peaceful path with food.
Eating disorders don’t just impact mealtime, but can affect how you move through the world. When there’s such intense rules around what we eat, our brains become hyperfixated on all things food. Nutrition counseling allows you to explore your current relationship with food, thoughts and behaviors that make eating feel impossible, what adequate and supportive nourishment looks like, and practical skills for navigating the harder moments.
It is possible to recover from an eating disorder and have a relationship with food that you can not only live with, but thrive with.
You’ve spent years trying to eat “better”. Yet somehow, you end up even more frustrated with food… and yourself. You’re not failing in your pursuit of health… the approach has been failing you. Nutrition counseling explores the diet culture messages that you’ve internalized over time, how you relate to food and your own body, what attunement to eating can look like for you, and how to nourish yourself in a supportive way.
Let’s get you to the tools you need to reconnect with what your body needs, without the guilt.
You’ve put in the work to excel at your sport, but recently you’ve been dragging through practice, hitting a wall mid-game, and not recovering the way you used to. Nutrition counseling for athletes explores how to properly fuel your body for training, competition, and recovery. Our goal is to develop a fueling strategy that helps you feel strong, perform at your best, and take care of your body for the long haul.
When you’re neurodivergent, eating can become even more complicated. Nutrition counseling for neurodivergent folks explores how sensory sensitivities shape your food choices, the connection between executive functioning and eating patterns, food routines that work with how your brain is wired, and strategies to expand eating in a way that feels safe. Let’s find a way to eat that works with you, not against you.
A new medical diagnosis or years of managing a chronic health condition can come with a lot of conflicting nutrition advice. It’s hard to sort through when it seems like everyone is an expert. Nutrition counseling with a registered dietitian can explore evidence-based strategies that support your health and specific diagnosis, how to make sustainable changes that fit your real life, and overall improve your relationship with food as you pursue health.
Although we are not in-network with any insurances, we often have success helping clients get a single case agreement (especially with BCBS, Aetna, United Healthcare, and Cigna) to cover part or all of the cost of nutrition counseling with the eatwellgeorgia team. We can help with paperwork and communication with insurance for single case agreements.
We do not bill insurance directly, therefore clients are still responsible for upfront costs. Reimbursement is obtained by providing your insurance with a superbill, either with a single case agreement or private pay. Payments can be made via credit card or HSA/FSA cards.
If you are planning to pay out of pocket, the session rates are as follows:
INITIAL SESSION: $225 to $275
50-MINUTE FOLLOW-UP SESSION: $150 to $185
30-MINUTE FOLLOW-UP SESSION: $85 to $110
Please note that session cost varies by dietitian. Case management, such as coordination of care, clinical summaries, document preparation for legal services, disability application, etc. is billed at a rate of $150/hr.
Speaking engagements are available for an additional rate - please reach out for more information.
When it comes to creating a plan tailored specifically to you and your needs, we think through a lot of things that are going on, such as:
There’s no denying that we all have emotion-based responses when it comes to our relationship with food. When food feels hard, we can bring in therapeutic modalities to support the emotional side of things.
While we are always down to talk about what’s going on, sometimes it can be helpful to engage in food exposures together, like grocery shopping, cooking skills, and trying new foods together.
Our main goal is to support you as you unpack thought patterns influenced by diet culture. We’ll lay the groundwork for understanding the biological mechanisms at play in your body and how it impacts your nutrition needs.
Food is never labeled as “good” or “bad” in our sessions. Rather, we get curious about how foods make you feel and your past experiences with them.
We’re here to recognize (and celebrate!) progress even when it’s hard to see. We know that recovery is all about stringing together lots of baby steps.
Healing your relationship with food may require support from the outside. We offer groups and workshops periodically throughout the year for additional support!
